Wednesday 18th April – Welcome to my guard

For the beginner Gi class, we worked on position within guard before working a standing guard break and pass.  We drilled through with increasing levels of resistance and then problem solved to fix any holes.  After that, we lined up against the wall for guard passing.  A tough and hot night on the mats, but everyone seemed to enjoy it.

For the advanced class, we changed to NoGi in preparation for Grapplepalooza this weekend.  Five minute rounds with one minutes rest competition rounds.  Everyone was going hard to pass guard, sweep and submit.  Really tough class, but you can see the benefits of the last few weeks training paying off in everyone’s games.

There’s a big team competing at Grapplepalooza this weekend.  It’s on in Whitehall Colmcille GAA club on Collins Avenue.  Even if you’re not competing, come along to support your team mates and watch some of the great Jiu Jitsu on display from Ireland’s top grapplers.

PS:  If you’re free during the day, why don’t you go to the Drysdale Jiu Jitsu Facebook page.  There are several lunchtime training sessions going on during the week.
