We are all Garda vetted and our club is a member of the Irish Amateur Pankration Association, Irish Amateur Wrestling Association, and Zenith Jiu Jitsu International. BARRY

OGLESBY

Barry is the head coach and founder of Kyuzo, and has been coaching martial arts since 2003. Originally starting in Taekwondo, where he earned a 2nd degree black belt, Barry began to explore and train other martial arts methods. This led him to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA. Barry has competed in MMA, BJJ, Kickboxing, Taekwondo, and Boxing. His coaching pedigree includes many amateur and professional BJJ and MMA fighters, sports teams, and athletes. Barry holds a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Robert Drysdale, and is a professional Strength and Conditioning coach. He has officiated at MMA events around the world, and is a noted commentator and writer in the fields of martial arts and fitness

JOE

MADY

Joe is an experienced striking coach having trained in Muay Thai, kickboxing, and pro boxing. He holds an NCEF fitness qualification and has fought MMA, boxing, K1, and competed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Grappling tournaments. He takes energetic and dynamic striking classes that teach the fundamentals of the striking sports. Joe can always be found on the mats sharing tips and techniques.

GRANT

CARROLL

Grant has over 8 years grappling experience, and holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and an Irish Amateur Wrestling Association coaching qualification. He has competed in Mixed Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and K1 kickboxing. Grant is head of the Youth Development Programme at Kyuzo, helping young grapplers from the age of 4 years old to develop their skills. Grant is an enthusiastic and helpful coach and role model to all of our young grapplers at Kyuzo, and can always be found on the mats running games and teaching technique to our kids.

ANDY

BRADY

Andy has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Kyuzo since the club’s inception, and holds a brown belt in BJJ from ADCC gold medalist and BJJ world Champion Robert Drysdale. A multiple time Irish Open BJJ Gold medalist, Andy also uses his experience as a law enforcement officer to coach high level, practically proven Jiu Jitsu.

ZHIVKO

STOYANOV

Kyuzo appointed Coach Stoyanov as head wrestling coach in 2015. Zhivko oversees and coaches both our children’s wrestling programme and our adult wrestling programme. A highly decorated graduate of the Olympic Academy in Sofia, Zhivko was in the top ten freestyle wrestlers in the world at his weight before turning his attention to coaching. Zhivko’s roll is to coach Freestyle wrestling as it applies to competition wrestling, Mixed Martial Arts, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

ADAM

KEARNEY

Adam is a graduate of the Kyuzo Youth Programme, starting at age 14 training Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. While rehabilitating a serious injury sustained playing football, he used his time in the gym to assist with children’s classes, and is now a valued member of our coaching team. He holds a Coaching Certificate from the Irish Amateur Wrestling Association, and is an active competitor in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

AMANDA

ENGLISH

Amanda is one of Ireland’s most experienced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Artists. She is one of only 3 Irish women to have achieved the rank of Brown Belt in BJJ, and one of only 3 to have fought professional Mixed Martial Arts. Amanda coaches the Women’s programme at Kyuzo, sharing her vast martial arts experience with other women who wish to learn for self defence or competition.
