Kyuzo Kids Impress in Interclub Tournament

If you like watching impressive young fighters, then Kyuzo was the place to be last Saturday as we hosted East Coast Jiu Jitsu and their kids team for an Interclub tournament.

The idea was to give our younger members a chance to compete with almost zero pressure, nothing at stake, no big crowds, and lots of fun before and after. We started the day with some fun games like the always popular Wolves and Sheep, some butt scoot football, and some chasing. Once they were all warmed up and ready to go, we divided them up into groups of 3 and 4. Each group would face each other in a round robin format, with the winner getting 2 points for a victory.

Thanks for an amazing kids competition today! The coaches swept all the pre-fight nerves away getting the kids playing fun games to warm up, broke the ice and set the scene for an extremely well run and safe experience for all. Thanks for making us all so welcome, look forward to seeing you again soon.- Colin on Facebook

And what a display! We saw excellent grappling from all of the kids. Great attacking skills from the guard, impressive throws, super sweeps, and tight submissions! But most importantly we saw smiles and great energy. Our policy is “Fun First”. Without a love of the sport and all of its elements no kid will want to stick with any sport. So seeing our kids impress with great smiles on their faces while doing it was amazing. Everyone got at least 2 matches and met some new friends too.

And not to forget our guests East Coast Jiu Jitsu and our one entrant Charlie from Gracie Barra. It was great to see that our enthusiasm for Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is shared all around Dublin. We look forward to visiting you guys for something similar soon!

We’ll have a few more photos soon so stay tuned but for now, enjoy the ones below!

Thanks to Coach Marcus from East Coast Jiu Jitsu, Chris from Gracie Barra, Coaches Graham and Adam from Kyuzo, and helpers/timekeepers Alan and Jonathon! Of course, much thanks go to the parents of our students who continue to trust us to coach their children.
