Happy Christmas

Dear Member,

As 2013 draws to a close we can look back on a very successful year for our Academy. We are a small but growing club. In fact, if we continue on the path we’re currently on, we will be one of the largest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu clubs in the country very soon. The growth has meant new coaching staff, a new gym manager, and a packed timetable of classes. It has been nothing but positive, and I’d like to thank you all for your energy and support throughout the year. Whether you were a medallist or a team mate, your contribution has been very important to the continued success of the club. Go raibh maith agat.

There will be lots of new faces and some small changes in the coming year, but nothing drastic. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and the club has been a great place to come and train. Chief among the changes will be our new kickboxing Programme which will arrive in March of this year. We will also be stepping up our efforts to bring high quality grapplers here to Kyuzo to train with us. Stay tuned for more on that.

On a personal note, I have many highlights as a coach. Our summer camp was a tremendous success and among the best training experiences I’ve had since starting the gym in 2003. Speaking of which, the tenth anniversary party was a fairly special evening, and a great opportunity to reflect on 10 great years. If I were to pick a particular highlight however, it would be watching our underage competitors perform throughout the year. There energy and enthusiasm is infectious.

We of course have our newest bunch of beginners coming in the New Year, and I know that you will all welcome them to the club as they start their training journey. If you know of someone who would like to start, make sure to direct them to our Beginner BJJ or Beginner MMA courses that are starting in the coming weeks. We really rely on our current members to help spread the news about the club and the great benefits of training, so try to drag a friend along this year. They’ll thank you for it one day.

Finally, on behalf of the coaching staff and management, let me wish you and your family a happy Christmas, and a prosperous New Year. I’ll see you on the mat in 2014!

Regards,

Barry,

Head Coach, Kyuzo Grappling Academy
