Beginners Mixed Martial Arts Class

Congrats to all of our new members who trained in MMA for Beginners last night. Everyone can be very proud of their efforts, but most of all, proud of having taken the first step into training. Getting out of the house and into the gym is the most important and most difficult step. Once you’re in training, we take care of the rest!

MMA Dublin

We started out with some positioning and stance work, then moved on to some movement games and drills. Our head and knee tap drill is great fun, and teaches some of the most important things about fighting in mixed martial arts- the importance of head movement, keeping your hands up, changing levels, and being aware of your opponent’s movements. The sweat was pumping after a few minutes but everyone kept working hard, and we then moved onto one of the most important drills- pummeling for clinch control. After that, we worked on using the pummel against the cage wall to control an opponent, and then worked into a really simple takedown.
